Mecklenburg Chapter is participating in the Daffodil Project by planting 360 daffodils at our Camp Greene monument and nearby church grounds. www.daffodilproject.net
The Mecklenburg Chapter has been selected as a commemorative partner with the United States of American Vietnam War Commemoration, established by Congress, to "thank and honor veterans of the Vietnam War, including personnel who were held as prisoners of war (POW) or listed as missing in action (MIA), for their service and sacrifice on behalf of the United States and to thank and honor the families of the veterans.
On November 6, 2004, the Mecklenburg Chapter, NSDAR celebrated the 100th anniversary of the placing of the James K. Polk birthplace marker. The re-dedication ceremony was held in collaboration with the James K. Polk birthday celebration held at the State Historic Site located in Pineville, North Carolina.
